My Highlights Of 2011

This year  I had the best year that I could ever have.  My highlight of the year was being in the same class as the year eights because it was a new experience and I gained some new friendships.  My best year 8 friend was Charm because he was funny and we had some fun times in class.  I’ve have a lot more highlights like camp in the begging of the year and athletics.  Even the little bits were fun like lunch times and just playing with my friends.
Another highlight was taonga time (treasure time) because I gained new knowledge on Japanese , Music , movie making and a lot more.  I am so proud of my self because of my achievements and my test results that I have accomplished .

this year was the best year I ever had and I will always remember it.  :)

Thank you teachers for giving me the best year.

Tennis This Term

" Awwwww !!" My team laughing and disappointed that I lost. As I looked at my teacher she laughed too!!Every Wednesday After maths , Room22 have their Tennis session with Marcel. Who is Marcel? Well he is a professional Tennis teacher that has come to our school so we can practise how to play Tennis.

To Kick off our session we had to grab our rackets and practise some drills. They are very important! The first drill was was hitting the tennis ball as many times as you can. I didn't get as many as I thought I would. Our second drill was To spin the ball around the racket without it falling off. Marcel blowed his whistle and gave us another drill This was the most complicated one of all the drills. This one we had to hit the ball and the his it with the rims around the racket. I probably got it once or twice.

" Yaaay!!" This game was fun . For this game we were split into groups to play " KING OF THE COURT !! " Kaiden and I were once again face to face but in a bigger version of table tennis. He started off with an ultimate serve , the UNDER ARM !! , and then I hit it , he hit it back and it went back and forth and back and forth , and finally after our long 12 second game I smashed and then I won ."WOO HOO" But then another worthy opponent steeped up , "AMOS". The game started and straight away I LOST !!!!

Thinking Logical And Creative

Today in the morning , room 22 had some logical and creative thinking. Our goal was to solve a problem set up by Ms T.

First off we were split into groups of three . In my group was Kaiden , Vaha , I. Our problem was "You are at a camp and it is raining and there is a hole in your tent. how do you fix it?" We had five objects and they were a light bulb , a spade , a can opener , some rocks and a pair of glasses.

Our solution was to find a way to create a cover for a hole in a tent. Our group did not succeed but we had a creative Idea but didn't have any logical in it !

This Week

“OHHYEEAAH”I said with excitement. I cant believe that it is the last week of school, its come soo fast. I have really enjoyed this last week of school. We also have a production going on called Webzidazical Don’t get caught. But the production practice took most of our learning time but that's alright cause we get to experience .

During the last week of school the none production people had been moved all around the school so it has been a bit of a muck up for them. But all I have to say about my self during this week is that its been awesome practicing and creating our mask and dancing with our friends.

This week was the best week of school for me so far and I thank my teacher Ms T for giving this week to us and also all the other staff for coping with the kids going in and out of class.

Math Whizz

In math we have this facility called Math whizz. It is for improving your knowledge on things you need to know at your age. It really works cause it helped me .

Good Bye Mrs Richards

"AWWWW" I shouted with sadness. Mrs Richards is leaving. Who is Mrs Richards you may ask? Well she is studying to be a teacher and she came to our class to be prepared for when she gets job. I really enjoyed having her in our class.

I enjoyed listening to all of her story's she had told us. It was really amusing to hear about her self and her culture.

On the last day, Mrs Richards treated us by cooking a delicious Chinese meal to celebrate her last day in our class. The food was really appreciated and nice.

Our Champs

“WoooHOOO!!!” I shouted with relief . Our boys won the “New Zealand 7’s Nationals”. Last week they left on Sunday morning to Tauranga for the Sevens Competition (The Aims). They were one of 32 teams participating in this event. Some boys in our class were in the team, they were Charm Rameka, Raven Takerei and Junior Mokoi.

I was confident that the boy were gonna take out the Comp. They were training well, working hard, and working together as a good team. Also they had faith in them self so go the whole way and god guidance. They were even luck enough to have some hints and help from the New Zealand sevens coach, Gordan

The boys were grateful for the effort and help from our school and the staff who sponsored the boys in the team. “WELL DONE BOYS!!!”

My Multiple Intelligients Test Results

These results show my strongest and weakest intelligent. As you can see my strongest strength is Interpersonal,Intrapersonal,Musical,Naturalistic,Kinaesthitic, and Linguistic. My weakest Is Logical so that means i have to work harder with numbers.

Rm 22 League Session

Yesterday, the Senior school (years 5 to 8) had went out to our school court to learn some league skills with Siua from the 2011 Junior Warriors squad.

We put our change of close on and headed to our courts, But first we had to walk around the school because some of us just don’t listen. Then Siua introduced his self and we started straight away.

Firstly we got put into teams of 4 . Our first drill was stepping in and out in zig/zags. This skill improves

on stepping people and maybe your dog if he trys to bite you. The other drill was stepping each other in a line and then race down and score a try. Heaps of people were putting the ball before the line. This drill for

my team was hard because we had big people and the space was hard to step into but it was very fun.

to finish off this wonderful session ,we played this aw some game called the kicking game! This was my favourite activity. The rules for this game was to kick the ball into the air and then the person on the other side has to catch it on the full, if you dint catch then you are out or if the ball bounces near to and you are the closest you are also out. The height you had to kick was over your shoulder. Oh I almost forgot ,” keep your eyes on the ball”! My friend got hit in the face two times. I was very good at this game because we play this game in my team. We played this game three times and unfortunately my team loss ed , but it was a good battle.

Th Science Road Show

Last Thursday the year 7/8 went down to Tamiki College for the science road show to learn more about our topic , bigger,better,faster,stronger. To see these amazing exhibits we had pay $ 7.00

As we arrived at the school auditorium the other classes had just started their session. Once we were instructed on the rules we raced off to see the gadgets .There was a variety of inventions so I picked the topic sound. My group decided to choose big ear. It is this sat elite dish that you talk through and then listen from the other end on a telephone.

My favourite device was the there-min. It was a sound pitcher. It is use by waving your hand up and down to make a rhythm or sound. It was fun cause we made our own beat and sounds our self's.

Thanks to the people that allowed us to spend some time over there and that They will come back.

Our Swimming Session..

The last two weeks we have our swimming session. Every Friday lunch time we get ready and walked down to swim magic(swimming pool).

Room 22 students swam in two lanes.What we need to practice is to keep our legs straight while kicking and the movement of our arms so we can swim the full length of the pool. We also had to see how much lengths we could swim and i swam 850.

I think our swimming session was very fun and it was good because if we did not practice we could drown

Our Sign

My class room 22 , is trying to find away of curing our school from littering. We came up with an idea to create a sign that stands out and that little kids right up to us can understand very clearly. These steps will help us to succeed and achieve our goal.

Identify a need..
The first step is to identify a need and our need was to stop the rubbish in our school from touching the school grounds.

Research...
Next step is to research an image online to get an idea of why it is important not to litter.

Generating ideas...This next step is very important in life. Generating ideas. This is to think or create many ideas so that there will be more of a chance of succeeding , because if you had one main idea and it got busted or lost, you will have many other ideas that may work.

I think this idea could work very well and that it could cure our school the litter bug...

Felting Wool

In room 22 Huia( reading group ) is learning the steps to make felt. these few steps of how to die wool, sell it, and make it for yourself .

1) the first step to processing the wool into felt would be to sheer the sheep.

2)secondly Then you would have to collect it

3)then you would have to weave the wool so that it can be coloured properly and be silky smooth

4)after that you would have to get a pot or something you can boil it in and buy some dye and pore it in the pot withe the hot water or bye some tea bags, coffee beans, and beetroot. You will have to wait for about an hour and a half to be coloured

5)Then you have to let it dry for about 1 hour

6)Then you put it on sale for a few dollars

My Taonga Time

This year the year 7 and 8 have taonga time.It happends every friday for half an hour. Taonga means treasure. Taonga time is a time for us to learn and for the teachers to share their passion to us.

We have 8 subjects and they are sports,music,team building,technology,science.

Last term I was with Mr J’s group. It was very interesting to learn about Mr J’s passion for his music and his awsome knoledge about music.This term I am with Mrs Tele’a. She has alot of information about computers,cameras,camera shots,movie making and more. Right now we are
learning what type are shots are there and to make a little movie about welcome to Pt england.

Taonga time is awsome and the good thing about it is that we get to learn what the teachers have and maybe get better at it in the future. It a good oppurtuinity to express your passion for what you like or what you want to do.

Every Thursday the year 7 and 8’s have netball drills. My class, Room 22, went with Emma from the Auckland Netball Association.

First off we had to do dynamic stretches. They were high knees, butt kicks, and the grape vine. After that we did some passes. But first we had to learn how to put our hands on the ball. We had to hold the ball in a W shape. This helps with good accuracy. I learnt how to do a chest,bounce, and do an overhead pass.Then we learned to secure the ball safely with these steps. Ice Cream! Run then pass and take two steps and receive the ball and say ice cream in your head.

We finished our drills and had a game of corner ball. Corner ball is this game similar to Netball but there a cones on the other ends of the court and you have to get the ball in that semi circle. We played and it was very fun and the boys were pretty good at it too.

I think that Emma is an awsome person to teach us these skills and hope that she has a good time with us too.

My Creative Name

This term we are learning about bigger,better,stronger ,faster. The year seven and eights are a topic rotation about these four words, innovation,discovery,creativty,and practicality.The subject that rm 22 are doing is creativity

Creative means to do or imagine of something that is original and really amazing and that can be produced or invented.

My Term1 Reflection

This term I received my report and I was very pleased about what I gained for my reading. It was very good because my results were excellent for behaviour, academic progress and work habits.

The thing I need to improve is my writing. I have been getting better but i still haven’t reached my destination. I also need to improve on focusing on one subject and not wondering around looking at things that distract me.

My term didn’t turn out very good, but I know I can get better by listening to the teacher and not talk while the teacher is speaking. This term I will improve by focusing!

Kia ora my name is Lepa To'a i am 11. I'm going to tell you somethings about me.

I am a Year 7 at Pt England Intermediate.My class is rm 22. I have a wonderful teacher Ms Tito.She is a very good at speaking moari. There are some new things happening right now at our school like our brand new net books,new Intermediate and our new class.

I am very well known around the school.I liked to do physical things like rugby, league,softball and many other sports. I’ve even played netball. am very good at drawing and my favourite subject is maths.

I have 6 family member ,my mum,my 2 brother my and my 2 sister.I live in GI in Talbot place.Its approximately 5 minutes away from school.I think this year is going to turn out great.

Room 22 have been learning about statistics and have learned how to use all types of graphs. The graph shown above is called a column graph. It is explaining what food Room 22 wanted for their good work. As you can see the most preferred type of food they wanted was nachos. Mmm yummy. The least popular type of food was Curry and Kumara. Waking up with excitement , I couldn’t wait for the up and coming day ahead of me.it wasn’t just and ordinary Monday, it was Matthew T birthday.
